Terms of use

Hestia's Atlas is a free planning tool for people considering a move between US counties. Use of the site means you accept these terms. They are short because the deal is simple.

The site shows published government data and figures you enter yourself, and every metric names its source so you can check it. It is not financial, legal, tax, or real-estate advice, and we are not licensed to give any of those. Data can lag, contain errors, or fail to describe your situation. Verify anything that matters against the cited source and your own judgment before you act on it. Decisions you make, including the decision to move, are yours.

Anything you enter remains yours. You grant us only the narrow permission needed to store it and show it back to you, which is the whole product. Details on where data lives are in the privacy policy. Keep your password safe; an account is continuity for your character, and you are responsible for what happens under your sign-in.

Posts are public. Be decent to each other; this is a small place. Do not post anything unlawful, do not scam or harass anyone, and do not claim things about the site that are not true. We may remove content or accounts that abuse the hearth, and we would rather never have to.

The photo scanners cost real money per use, so they carry per-player limits, and working around those limits with automation or multiple accounts is the one way to abuse a free site. The by-hand versions of every tool are unlimited. Do not use the site to break the law, probe its security, or interfere with other players' data.

Some promises run the other direction. The site will not show ads, sell your data, or charge for anything it currently does for free. It will not add gambling or gacha mechanics, countdown timers, streak punishments, loss states, or any design that manufactures urgency or fear to change your behavior. A number that moved is a fact about the world, never a score you lost. If any of this ever changes, it will be announced plainly on the patch notes page before it happens.

The site is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind, and it may change, break, or pause. To the fullest extent the law allows, our liability for any claim arising from your use of a free site is limited to the amount you paid us to use it, which is zero. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

These terms are governed by the laws of California, USA. Changes to them are announced on the patch notes page before they take effect. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stands. Questions: hearth@hestiasatlas.com.
